Umatilla is  in Umatilla County, located in North Central Oregon along the banks of the beautiful Columbia River.  We are 180 miles east of Portland on Hwy 730.  

Directions:  Travel East/West on I-84 to I-82 interchange (I-84 Exit 179). Go north approximately 9 miles and take Exit #1 (Umatilla). Turn left at bottom of exit ramp (Hwy 730) for City Center.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT:

The City of  Umatilla exercises its powers through a home rule charter under a Council-Manager management style. A directly elected non-partisan Mayor with a four-year term leads a six-member, non-partisan City Council who are elected to four-year, overlapping terms. A full-time City Manager administers the affairs of the city for the Council.

The City of Umatilla is a transportation hub in the Pacific Northwest. There are excellent access to freight transportation facilities. Direct highway access includes two Interstates, I-82 & I-84 and two U.S. Highways,  Hwy 730 and Hwy 395. The Union Pacific Railroad line runs through Umatilla and the Port of Umatilla with railroad car loading access available to and from river barges. The Municipal Airport in Hermiston is accessible for smaller commercial and private airplanes. The Commercial Airports in Pendleton, Oregon & Pasco, Washington are within approximately 35 miles.
